Relegation-haunted Tanzania Prisons are virtually out of Mainland premiership’s title race as they have a weak ceiling of attaining 40 points should they win all of their remaining eight fixtures.

The Mbeya-based side has played 18 matches and attained 16 points to stay at the base of the 14-team standings. Unless pacemakers Young Africans lose all of their remaining six matches, then Prisons might have an opportunity to scale up to the summit of the standings while at the same time praying for other title contenders to falter as well.

However the mathematical permutations to enable Prisons notch Mainland title are highly complex such that the team itself has huge burden of disengaging from the relegation rather than title chase.

With five points adrift of Police Moro, still the prison wardens have a huge mountain to scale before leapfrogging into the leagues safe horizon.
Two teams will be relegated from the top flight berth this season and second in the possibility include Shinyanga’s Stand United.

It’s too early to count Prisons’ relegation-wayward, but there are all indications that survival will be hard fought for the Southern Highland side.

More premiership matches will be played this weekend and there are possibilities for change in the standings though Prisons will still be stuck at the base of the standings table owing to low number of points.

Even if Prisons post victory in their subsequent match, still they cannot dislodge relegation-bound partners, Police Moro. However, Police Moro have the opportunity to scale the standings ladder should they post a win in this weekend’s fixtures.

In related development Yanga who will be out of action this weekend are still leading the log with 40 points, four above hottest title contenders and holders Azam.
